Hallelujah-Seattle is the Nation's Fourth Safest City

SeattleSeattleSeattle is a safe city. At least by American standards, it is. Seattle ranks number four amongst Forbes Magazine’s top-rated cities for safety, which includes deaths by natural disasters, transportation deaths, and work-related deaths.

While I'm not arguing necessarily with the data or the fact that Seattle is indeed pretty safe, I’m not really sure how to interpret some of the statements by the article’s author, who seems to have confused Seattle with a city that actually has a great public transportation system.

Boston and Seattle are tied for fourth. Both benefit from low traffic fatality rates--Boston's is the lowest on our list, and Seattle's is the eighth-lowest. This is largely because they boast two of the most user-friendly mass transit systems in the country.

WTF? It is obvious to me that although the author may have visited Boston, he has more than likely never in his lifetime visited Seattle. Didn’t he see the viaduct safety video released a week ago? He must be confusing Seattle with its neighbor to the south, which is actually known as having a good transportation system.

I love how people that have never even been to a place are so eager to characterize it in a certain way. Seriously, saying that Seattle has great transportation is like comparing the climate here to the climate in Hawaii- it’s not even close.
